Executive Team
Kaaren Goodall - Executive Director
Kaaren joined the Committee for Auckland in September 2003. She brings with her a background in economic development, and urban revitalisation built up during senior management roles in Waitakere and Rodney Councils, and through contracting to others - Auckland and Manukau - in her own consulting business. She has also completed work in the Pacific on assignments with the NZ Agency for International Development.
Her preferred way of working is to put teams of people together from the public and private sectors to get projects moving. Initiatives have varied from the Industrial Edge project involving 60 Chief Executives, to town centre projects including the New Lynn design workshops and the redevelopment of Lynnmall, to community working parties which drafted Rodney District's first economy strategy.
Kaaren has delivered urban projects, developed new strategies, and implemented change management projects. Her interest is in cities and how to make them work well for people.

Lorraine Mentz - Future Auckland Leaders Project Manager
Lorraine Mentz joined our Committee for Auckland team last year, to project manage both the Future Auckland Leaders' programme and the Springboard Trust.
Lorraine has 25 years involvement with non profit organizations in New Zealand, UK and Africa. She is currently working as a consultant focussing on project management, marketing, research, sponsorship, fundraising and governance of non profits.
She moved to New Zealand 12 years ago from Oxford where she was involved with Templeton College and their Strategic Leadership programmes. Her working knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing including researching ideas or concepts, identifying target markets, preparing plans and implementing effective promotional campaigns and programmes will be invaluable to us on the Committee, whilst on a fundraising, sponsorship and event management platform she has experience in the development of events as marketing tools on both corporate, educational and social platforms.
She assisted Diocesan School for Girls with the incorporation and development of their Heritage Foundation and associated funding initiatives over 3 years including the hugely successful "Women2Watch Awards". Lorraine has also managed the Auckland Top Shop Awards from 1998-2004.
Our work with the SpringboardTrust's capacity partners offers innovative, high-potential non profits the practical support they need to help realise their aspirations. By accelerating growth in non-profits we help them deliver effective social change and in turn we build stronger communities, a more skilled workforce, more confident and creative youth, and ultimately higher achievers with high aspirations from all groups in society.

Stephen Rainbow
Stephen Rainbow, joined the Committee for Auckland Executive team in March 2008.
Stephen was most recently General Manager of transport at Auckland City, a role he left to look after his partner who died of cancer last year. Prior to working for Auckland City, Stephen was Director of Urban Strategy at Wellington City with particular responsibility for waterfront issues.
Other roles that Stephen has filled have included a national manager's role at the Historic Places Trust, and he also served on the Board of the Historic Places Trust for some years. Stephen was a Wellington City Councillor from 1989-1998 where he took a particular interest in promoting heritage, urban design and sustainability. Having served in both management and governance roles Stephen has strong views about local government and its potential - too often unrealised - to contribute positively to building better places.
Outside of work Stephen is a keen traveller and a collector of modern design. He has a collection of classic cars and enjoys spending time at his art deco retreat in Nelson.
Encouraging New Zealand to come to terms with the fact that we are a highly urbanised society has been a consistent theme in Stephen's life to date and he is delighted to join the Committee for Auckland with its strong focus on unashamedly promoting Auckland's success as a critical contributor to New Zealand's over-all prosperity.
