'Talented People' 2010 Future Auckland Leaders' Programme Welcomes 4th Cohort
The Orakei Marae hosted our 2010 Future Auckland Leaders for their Welcome Weekend and the start of their two year journey, exploring what it will mean to be a leader in Auckland in the future.
A highlight of the programme, the Weekend brought together 31 new leaders from diverse, cross-sector host organisations.
Sessions spanned two 'sleepover' days filled with workshops, talks, panel discussions, presentations and in-depth introductions to Committee for Auckland, Alumni and our vision of "making Auckland one of the world's great places to live and work". Below the topis of these sessions:
'Auckland's Leadership Challenges and Opportunities" with in depth discussion on transforming Auckland - 'A Vision for the City'. The group gave thoughtful commentary on Auckland's challenging leadership opportunities and came up with numerous ideas of the "3 big things for the new Mayor to do!" Thanks to David McConnell, Earl Gray and Kaaren Goodall for leading this topic.
Ngati Whatua's history and their Claim to the Waitangi Tribunal introduced Grant Hawke, Tiwana Tibble and Pat Snedden and their personal reflections on Ngati Whatua's history and the Claims process.
'Thoughts on Leadership' from Sir Ron Carter was a highlight enjoyed by all and captured for posterity on a 50 year life DVD
